On December 16th, Amazon dropped the first three episodes of The Expanse season five.

Amos journey is a stand out, where he is back to his roots in Baltimore. As Amos, Wes Chatham really gets the chance to shine this season. Amos has always been a fan favorite, but the character hasn’t been allowed to show the kind of range that he does now-range that’s the result of well-earned character growth.

Other fan favorite, Camina Drummer, is also given time and space on her own that previous seasons haven’t afforded her. Cara Gee is just so good as the driven, tough-as-nails Drummer-who possesses the fiercest eyeliner game in the galaxy

This season, however, we get to see many sides of Drummer, including some far more vulnerable and emotional moments than ever before. Every time Gee is onscreen as Drummer feels like a gift to us all.

#TheExpanse star Shohreh Aghdashloo talks about Chrisjen's need to "let go of the power and just sit back and watch and learn from it." cc: @SAghdashloo https://t.co/lzQ6LF7zFe

As Aghdashloo sees it, regardless of where Chrisjen might be in the hierarchy as we reconnect with her, she has just one over-arching concern - the safety and security of Earth - and that regardless of where she is, she’s always making sure she’s prepared to act on that.

“Everything is like a project to her" [...] “So if you go to Avasarala at the beginning of her project, or even at the middle of it, we won’t get anything out of this because all she is doing is she is paying attention to what she needs to do. In other words, she becomes one with her project. She has become one with her mission: Earth must come first.”

That mission is tested severely in the third episode of Season 5, when Inaros manages to deal a spectacular blow against Earth, directing an asteroid at it that impacts near South Africa, killing millions. The spectators were surprised but like Aghdashloo comments, Chrisjen wasn't:

“In Season 1, she’s on the roof gazing at the stars. Her grandson asks her if she’s afraid of the rocks. She says she’s afraid of the people who throw the rocks.[...].That’s why she’s not surprised. On the contrary, she’s angry because of the fact that she kept saying this is going to happen and nobody paid attention to her,”

“She hasn’t given up yet. She would never give up. She would rather die than give up" [...] "she’s working on it. And she knows it’s a work in process.”

The show is also Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes with (currently) 23 reviews.
