Absolute Titan in Mad Men. Should have blown up. Should have been a contender.

December 15, 2020 Yesterday twitter had a spirited debate on why the critically acclaimed Mad Men cast (with one notable exception) never really went anywhere after the show. Most of the talk was about Christina Hendricks, but it applies to most of the cast.
does any longtime tv show cast ever went anywhere?
that's just the curse of being on a long running tv show.

December 15, 2020 Good Girls is good tho!
That is a good show, although I think it could’ve benefited from being on cable.

December 15, 2020 good old sexism
I’m surprised I had to scroll this far before it got brought up. It’s not hard to understand why she wasn’t getting the roles she should have based off her talent.

December 16, 2020 Everyone on Mad Men except Elizabeth Moss should've had a better movie career, Hamm could have been the next Clooney. Christina Hendricks and John Slattery should have had better careers, Slattery was great in Spotlight

December 15, 2020 typecasting?
The Mad Men cast suffered from being hard to distinguish from their near-iconic characters. I suspect most of them (Hamm, Jones, Hendricks, Kartheiser, Slattery) turned down efforts to typecast them. Elizabeth Moss benefitted greatly playing a nondescript who grew into a heroine.

December 16, 2020 is Elisabeth Moss just a better actress?
No, I cannot concede that.
