Agree on a lot of these. Especially Once Upon a Time. I was going to name a certain show that has the best pilot ever, but other people did so I won't. I have a theory that if a show has a great pilot, it'll end up being an awful. If a show as an OK pilot, it'll be great. A bad pilot is a bad show flat out.

Orange is the New Black has a pretty great pilot too.

I agree about Buffy. It isn't a perfect pilot but I know who Buffy as a person is and the rest of the world will fall into place over the course of the season.

People are too hard on all the seasons of Buffy. A lot of the "worst season" are usually because the person didn't like a storyline. Each season is good and bad for different reasons, but all are very good tv.

I don't like watching Season 6 because it's depressing af, but that's exactly what it needed to be for that time in Buffy's life.

As someone who watched Buffy for the first time like 3 years ago, I kept waiting for it to "turn bad" in S6. S6 was actually my favorite! Felt a lot more mature, maybe I just like depressing storylines.

It depends on when you watched it, I guess. I watched it in high school and it was my first season (because the person who introduced me to BtVS just didn't care about my experience at all and showed me the musical first. Something I'm totes not still bitter about obviously.) so it holds a special place in my heart. I can see why people would hate it because the tone is so different and Buffy isn't herself for most of it (to paraphrase SMG). But I still maintain that overall...IT'S FINE! It's just different and different doesn't mean bad.

It's actually like Half Blood Prince to me. I hated that book when I read it the first time, but then I reread them all in a row and actually really enjoyed it. Just watch it again!

It's too ~iconic for me to hate on, the first season can be a mess but I find the pilot really memorable with the world and character entrances

Agreed about Buffy. Pilot is perfectly fine and fuck it, I think the rest of the first season is fun and campy, too. I think people exaggerate how *bad* season one is because seasons 2 & 3 are so phenomenal.
