The Expanse Authors Say the Show Ending With Season Six is Only a "Pause Point," Maybe Not Done?

The Expanse may not actually be “canceled” after season 6. Think of it as more of a pause, say the authors. https://t.co/NmSwIRIs1X pic.twitter.com/m4zj7qEOu1

  • Last month, Amazon announced that The Expanse was renewed for a sixth and final season. As there will be nine books, this was clearly not acceptable.
  • However, the authors, both of whom are also involved in the show, are saying this is not necessarily a cancellation: “We have what we think is a very natural pause point for the story after season 6. It’ll feel like a satisfying end to the story we’ve been building over the first five seasons. I think one of the things that is sort of an outmoded idea is the idea of being canceled.”
  • “Alcon [Television Group] - our studio - is very committed to the IP. They have lots of plans. We’ll see what happens after that."
  • Say that after the first cancellation, they started talking about arcs: “We’ve been talking about what the shape of the show could be, and this 6 season arc was always one of the options that was on the table. This is not something that we’re having to scramble for." So, at the very least, the season six ending will have been planned and should hopefully be satisfying. (🤞 PLS)

Do NOT give me false hope. I need to see the final three books onscreen - ending on book six simply will not cut it. Though pausing after Babylon's Ashes makes a certain amount of sense.

P.S. Watch The Expanse, the best science fiction show in years.
