This is making me nervous.

17 states tell the Supreme Court that they support Texas AG Paxton’s bid to sue to effectively reverse President-elect Biden’s projected Electoral College victory. https://t.co/yxj3sqqQbs

SCOTUS won't hear this. It has zero merit. The bigger problem is that they were willing to try and throw out millions of votes. And even if they succeeded Biden would still have a majority of the remaining EC votes. It's all a grift.

Don't be nervous. SCOTUS already unanimously dismissed another case and they won't take up this one either. What they are arguing about how votes are accepted is decided at a state level, two of the states that support this have the same rules in place so not a good look. But SCOTUS is not going to set a presidence that losing states can just sue when they disagree with the outcome of another states votes.

I can't remember who I follow that pointed it out, but a lot of the states "suing" have the exact same laws that they're claiming are unfair in other states. So the most logical conclusion (according to this person) is that the states are only joining in because they know it won't win, since if it did prevail they'd just be opening up themselves to litigation too.

It's incredibly troubling that they'd even be willing to play chicken like that though.

So this whole Texas case thing, what are the chances that A. the SCOTUS takes it up and B. it being successful in any way.

And civil unrest will start after the EC votes.

None and none. It's disgusting that they're even trying.

I totally forgot that yesterday was safe harbor day so they literally can't do this. Not that that would stop the GOP ofc, but I do feel a bit better.

Sorry meant to reply to the post

Mark Elias says the justices won’t even agree to hear it so I don’t think it will go far. Plus there is talk on legal Twitter that blue states will have a precedent to sue red states for things like voter suppression etc etc. don’t know how true that is but an interesting take nonetheless

Olivia Jade is just doing an apology tour so she can continue to be a nepotistic influencer who does nothing worthwhile with her life while enjoying the fruits of her parents' labor.

Sick of it.

I think we’re going to see some level of unrest, yeah. I work for the state government, and we’ve had employees who were trying to enforce COVID safety regulations confronted by armed militias. It’s horrible because those people are just trying to do their job, and since we’re not backing down on the restrictions, I’m afraid that other businesses will get the same idea and someone will die due a situation that they have no control over.

Now that I think about, I truly hope that the state lives up to the DEI values they say they do and doesn’t ask a person of color to go up to any of those businesses, even with a law enforcement escort.

I can't get over this attorneys general thing. It's bonkers. State law leaders calling to disallow the votes in other states they have nothing to do with? What in the hell? And they're not even consistent about it. Only for the presidential election, huh? Nothing about the rest of the offices on the ballots. And only in these key strategic states, how handy! Fucking insanity.
