Honestly I don't see the point in this investigation. Sure it'd be sad if Diana was duped into doing this interview under false pretenses, but what was said was said. Even if she was dubiously convinced to give this interview, I don't think that would change the validity of what she said in it.
He got an interview with Michael Jackson by agreeing to organize a trip with Jackson to Africa to visit children with AIDs; he never did. He interviewed a woman whose child had been killed, and convinced her to give him in evidence in the crime that he would pay to have re-tested for evidence; he denies taking it. He interviewed the father of a missing child and said he would try to expose the authorities for failing to do their work properly; instead, he blamed the father.
yeah, i think that the way he manipulated mj did a great deal to help the latter's "fake news" narrative gain credence among his supporters. it doesn't matter how concerning his behavior is in what was broadcast, the fact that bashir operated the way he did undermined the entire thing.
And the only reason MJ agreed to do the interview with Bashir was because of this interview with Diana. Bashir talked about the connection between MJ and Diana (apparently they were friends ?) and he loved that Diana was able to tell her story with Bashir.
For what it's worth, the interview he did with MJ was super shady too, especially with the editing they did. I remember the full, unedited version was released and you could really see how salacious and manipulative Bashir was in his editing.
one of the things he led her on to believe that the BRF was putting a listening device on William, causing her to be nervous about being around her own son.
