Purito Centella was a popular and often recommended korean sunscreen for the face that advertised with an SPF of 50+

[The SPF number tells you how long the sun's UV radiation would take to redden your skin when using the product exactly as directed versus the amount of time without any sunscreen]

Lately there have been some stories in the skincare world about people getting sun burned while using it and some rising doubts about the formulation

https://incidecoder.com/ did send the product to two different independent european labs for testing, both only found an SPF of 19

i just literally bought 2 new purito centella unscented sunscreen, and have been using it this whole year, only to find out ITS ONLY SPF 19??? pic.twitter.com/nc2SchlnVK

PURITO Centella Green Level Unscented Sun SPF50+ PA++++ has lower protection than advertised. Multiple in-vivo tests have proven that the sunscreen protection is measured around SPF 19.

It was all lie 😭 pic.twitter.com/qX7t8xCWzQ

I'd personally assume all their sunscreens could have lower protection than claimed until more info comes out.

Unfortunately, as a consumer it is in good faith of the brand you choose to buy, that they won’t lie about their SPF rating. SPF ratings would need to be tested and validated in a lab. https://t.co/lXa8Gl2y8x

Wow. I’m just now seeing this on here. I mean honestly, this is really upsetting. But they’re also not the first brand to have been found to have less protection than what the label states. Formulating a sunscreen is HARD. This sucks. https://t.co/qqc2bnYQMl
