I still have a hard time coming to terms with the fact that people created a whole fucking ott campaign to give Leo his "overdue" Oscar yet the academy has been sleeping on Glenn for fucking DECADES and no one says a word.

And yes, I will be watching her new stupid ass movie where she looks like Sederginne from Holland's drag race bc I'll watch anything this woman is in. Except Damages, for some reason I never got around to it.

If you think people assuming "it's her time" based on mere common sense is in any way comparable to the hissy fit the internet threw over Leo, you're majorly deluded.

I see what you're trying to do Glenn Close hasn't been in a good film in thirty years (and that's generous). The mainstream films she's been in haven't done well and while awards were warranted in her heyday, had The Wife been as strong a film as The Favourite she would have won. Comparing her to Leo of all people is just not it.

I'm not comparing her to Leo as an artist, especially since Glenn is vastly more talented than he is, my point is how people acted as if he was a fucking martyr just bc he didn't have an Oscar yet whereas Glenn has been giving solid performances for pretty much 4 decades and that never warranted the same uproar. And don't act like the academy doesn't give awards to performances in shitty films bc they've done it for years now. Glenn obviously pissed the academy somehow and/or she just doesn't know how to play their game, especially being a woman in her 70s, which very clearly isn't the type of actress the oscar voters cream themselves over.

it doesn't come nearly as close to what leo got up until his oscar win. people acted as if he kept getting robbed when every single time he was nominated there were other people better than him. glenn deserved to win at least twice. and anyway, not even amy adams is getting the leo treatment and both amy and glenn are better actors than him

the later seasons kind of blur in my head, but the first season of damages is WELL worth the watch!
