More than three years after the release of possible album of the decade Melodrama, Lorde has provided an email update talking about her garden, but mostly her 2019 trip to Antartica. With photos taken by her friend Harriet Ware and a "piece of writing [she] did about [her] experience on the frozen continent," she's releasing a book called Going South, with proceeds to support a postgrad scholar studying climate change.
She also talks about how Antarctica was a "great white palette cleanser, a sort of celestial foyer" to help her start creating her third album, which she says she'll start showing off "soon."
Summer 2020/21 issue is out tomorrow, featuring an exclusive essay by @lorde on her trip to Antarctica; @TovaOBrien talks about being political journalism’s hero and villain; Cheap Eats: where to eat for under $20; & more! Are you ready for Lorde to save music in 2021? I will take a brief break from my usual refrain and instead say: stream Melodrama! But also, still stream Women in Music Pt. III 👀
