But why final?? They haven't even aired S5 to know if it does good numbers so why? It's because what happens in book 7 or something? Because it doesn't make sense, nooo

I was happy for the S6 renewal 😭

Naren was talking about how they'd handle the [Spoiler (click to open)]time jump so I don't think it's that, I think Amazon is washing their hands of the show due to Cas. Maybe s4 ratings were terrible, but you'd think they'd want to wait for s5 to see how they are. Also maybe if they commit to a s7, they'd have to go all the way to 9, but can manage to work out an ending for 6.

The show has never been promoted the way it should have been. Nobody I know IRL as even heard of this show, and it’s so sad. Syfy and Amazon both had the opportunity to make their own GoT and squandered it because they didn’t know to properly market the show. I myself didn’t watch until it was on Amazon and I’d literally run out of everything else.

But I don't think they were terrible, this show is the only one besides The Boys and MMM that had any kind of support in Amazon, and I remember reading that the show was one of the most streamed on the platform , it is probably Cas and the time jump but it still hurts

oh that's so annoying that it's final!! I was so happy and then....

still, I can't watch if they haven't booted cas, so

Deadline says Cas has been let go, but no one else reported that yet, so I didn't add it to my post. Still, he'll be in s5, since they weren't going to reshoot it.

yeah, I knew he was already in s5 but it's great to read he's been let go for s6. It's a shame that they're not continuing. I know it's an expensive production but it's so enjoyable

I didn't doubt he'd end up fired, I just hated that they weren't saying anything for 6 months and how they were handling it. Man the book series is one of my favorites and show watchers only will miss out on so much with ending it on book 6. It's just so disappointing.

I mean, given the [Spoiler (click to open)]thirty year time jump after book 6 this makes a lot of sense. Honestly I wasn't really expecting the show to go past book 6.

I dunno, I convinced myself we'd see the whole thing on screen when the show was picked up for s4. I know Naren was talking about [Spoiler (click to open)] ideas for how to handle the time jump, but I can see Amazon not wanting to deal with it or with having to give the show 3 more seasons to get a natural ending, while s6 can kinda be reworked into one, maybe.

It's definitely easier to end the show with book 6. Sure, there's the hanging thread of the [Spoiler (click to open)]ships that went through the Laconian gate and then closed it off, but other than that everything wraps up quite nicely. I could see them turning it into a really nice ending for the series.

I hated the time jump itself, but I feel like they could’ve worked the storyline to make it more like...5 years? There’s just so many places this could have gone, and the writers have done such an EXCELLENT job of interpreting and revising the books to fit to the TV medium.

I undeleted for the sole purpose of coming to this post to say I’m so disappointed, upset and sad to hear about this. I guess we can say goodbye to Duarte et al. The show should’ve run for 8 seasons and been given a much better send off than GoT. This can’t be because of Cas; the show would lose zero viewership if he were replaced or killed off. I guess the silver lining is we don’t lose Amos for a whole season. Instead, we just lose them all. Forever. Fuck that silver lining.

I guess they didn't want to handle the [Spoiler (click to open)] time jump? I doubt Amos would have been missing for a whole season during s8, the point in the book was you didn't know for sure he was Timmy, that won't work in a show. Besides, Holden was missing for a good chunk of book 7 and 8 and i doubt he'll be missing either. Man I'm so bummed about the whole Duarte/Laconia arc being scrapped. Ugh.

SPOILERS (my cut didn’t work)

No, we knew for sure he was Timmy because of his origin book. But absolutely, I agree, he wouldn’t have been missing for a season. I was half kidding. They could’ve managed cave time really well, it’s an interesting relationship between him and whatsherface. More interesting than him and Melba, anyway.

Trust me, enough people didn't make the connection, despite the Churn and NG, lol. I really liked his relationship with Tiny, but I also loved his relationship with Peaches and really liked books 7 and 8 (more than 6 for sure).

I keep trying to get into this show but the first 2 episodes just fail to grab me and I end up forgetting about it. Give me help.

I was sold on the show after episode 4, but I know some people struggled to get into it at first. S1 is really confusing and a bit hard to follow, so I get it not grabbing you from the start. If you're into good sci-fi with kickass female characters, it's a great show.

The first 5 episodes drag but when you get through them you'll like it and S2 improves a lot.

Gotta give it a few episodes and then it's GOLDEN.
