Is it worth it to get back into the show? I had to stop after the 50th anniversary special because Moffat just ripped the heart of the show out for me (and they did my Good Queen Bess so dirty).

I started to rewatch it but then stopped halfway through Donna's season (because Donna just breaks my heart) and haven't picked it back up yet.

It is, I'd say skip to S11 cause Moffat got worse after the 50th, but the newest Doctor is a blast.

i didn't watch the series with Clara or whoever that was and almost none of Capaldi's run except for the series with Pearl Mackie, which was fine.

But I'd say the new Doctor and the new episodes are worth watching, it's fun adventure stuff as it should be and I like the new companions.

RTD era is my fave and Moffat was the worrrst with his 50th being everything I never wanted so fuck him.

That said, I did enjoy Capaldi's run immensely. After a rough start with S8 Twelve settled nicely into a persona that suits the actor. Moffat's nonsense is still sprinkled all over the place so YMMV but I think it's worth giving it a try.

Chibnall is, well, Chibnall. He's very middle-of-the-road with some real gems in there. Closer to RTD than Moffat which is a relief, to say the least. The TARDIS with Thirteen and her companions is very crowded which needs some getting used to cause they don't get the 1:1 focus like other companions but they are all very likeable. And not to raise your expectations sky high but the S12 finale comes with a twist that blows Moffat's 50th bullshit away (in a good sense) and I've since known peace.

Donna’s ending still hurts me, that was such a punch in the gut. That said I would love to see her come back.

Try this filler free guide:https://www.evilcloneproductions.com/blog/2018/1/3/doctor-who-2018-binge-guide

Those things are life savers if you want to skip the fluff and stick to the plot. I usually just go back later to fill in gaps if I really want to.

I rage quit shortly after Capaldi started because I just couldn't get into Clara as a companion and I was SO sick of Moffat's bullshit. I finally picked it back up this year. The Clara years were still pretty tough for me to get through, but I actually quite liked the season with Bill as a companion. I didn't hate Thirteen's first season as much as I've seen other people hate it, but it definitely has a 'showrunner's first season' feel to it. I haven't gotten to season 12 yet, but I hear it is an improvement from 11. (And honestly, I was just so relieved to be done with Moffat that I would have taken literally anything after him.)
