Okay, I saw the Scoobynatural episode for the first time a couple weeks ago and genuinely enjoyed it, it surprised me tbh

The French Mistake and the musical episode Fan Fiction were awful though, imo. Honestly, all their episodes that in anyway touched fandom stuff were terrible.

I genuinely enjoyed the French Mistake, but the fanfiction one had me watching through my fingers.

I'm probably overly harsh on The French Mistake because I cringe how they write in Genevieve, even knowing it's tongue in cheek lol

I feel like in terms of zany hilariousness the show peaked at the French Mistake (closely followed by Yellow Fever), the fanfic episode was garbage

the idea of the scoobynatural ep sounds so embarrassing that i for sure thought it was the show's lowest point before i watched it. it's actually quite fun and makes sense in-universe. i think despite all its problematique-ness, spn has a great suspension of disbelief power (unless you walk in determined to hate it ofc) and can make nearly any ridiculous premise work in one way or another*

except the fanfiction ep, the amazon baby mama ep, and the familiar dog lady ep, there's no way to make these work. oh, and the egyptian gods ep felt like a ducktales story, so that one too

I think shows shouldn't get meta in that way. It's hard to pull off well and most of the time it's just a way for the writers to show off their utter disdain of the show's fans.

french mistake was one of the best episodes post first 5 seasons. i dont think any other episode in the back 5 seasons comes close.

the musical one was dumb as helll

Idk, I just didn't get into The French Mistake, it honestly made me cringe a fair bit tbh, though I appreciated them poking fun of the actors over the fans for once.
