if only dean wasn't an abusive pos who's literally never apologized for the absolutely gawd awful way he's been treating castiel damn near since they met. telling him no one cares he's broken when castiel was in the midst of a whole ass mental breakdown. doing fuck all when castiel basically told him that if he had to go back to heaven and see what he'd caused he'd kill himself. constantly demanding castiel put his neck out for him without giving him anything in return. etc etc etc. who tf is still rooting for this??

I dropped it in S6 but a part of me has never let go of Dean and Cas, as it was a fun time in SPN fandom for me, you know, 10 years ago. I was completely shocked and horrified when my friend who still watches filled me in on all that shit you just said, like jesus christ, Dean Winchester, who raised you? (oh right)
I said somewhere else that I'm happy I'd dropped the show when I did, before I completely lost any fondness for the characters. I still ship Destiel but I ship the idea of it from the "original" seasons. Like, I'd prefer to read fanfiction from a good writer or write it myself with the old cast than ever return to watch the show.
YES to everything you said. Dean's abusive nature is just regarded as part of his normal personality now. The way Dean treats and talks to Cas is exactly why I can never get behind Destiel because it just feels like Dean hates Cas.
People LOVE to say if Cas had a female vessel they would have been a couple already but as problematic as the show is with it's treatment of women, Dean would never treat a female Cas the way he does the male version.
i shipped destiel hard af before i realized that i wouldn't wish dean on my worst enemy. sam&castiel tho??? i could support her. the hugs. sam sharing his space with castiel. the co-parenting of a baby angel. matter of fact, just give me a whole spinoff pls&ty.
lol hell yes to samstiel. it's a shame even their friendship is eclipsed by destiel because there was a lot of potential and the writers wasted it like they have with everything else. I would give anything for a scene in the finale where Cas is resurrected, Sam declares his love for him making Cas realize he chose the wrong brother and they run off together with Jack leaving Dean alone like he deserves.
Dean exactly how DEAN gets treated. Or don't you remember Castiel beating the hell out of him for "disappointing" him in Season 4. Or Castiel selling out Lisa and Ben to Crowley and getting them almost killed in Season 6 because he thought he was better than "just a human" Dean?(and this after Dean defended him to everyone who said they thought he was behind the problems) Castiel lied to him for the whole year and then BLAMED him for the fact that he lied to him(which is the norm, they lie to Dean, they go behind his back, they cause him harm and then they blame him for it, and he ends up apologizing for something much LESS worse than what they'd done) That's been going on pretty much since Season 1. Or Bobby telling Dean, after Sam almost choked him to death next to the last episode of Season 4, "boo hoo Princess, who cares" and "family is supposed to make you miserable" and comparing him to his father?(saying this to Dean who has practically raised Sam while he was a child himself, was parentified by his father from the age of 5
