It’s official! Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. was finally elected the 46th president of the United States on Saturday morning after winning Pennsylvania and defeating that pendejo Donald Trump.
There is still hard work to do. Pushing Biden to the left. Winning those GA run off Senate senate seats. Gearing up for 2022 midterms. Flipping state legislatures.
BUT.
It's important to take some time to celebrate.
So that's what I'm gonna do today! And tomorrow, I'll roll up my sleeves and find the best ways to help in GA.
I had a friend say similar on Facebook, 'We still have a lot to do as Trump was a symptom and not the cause but today I'm going to be hopeful and celebrate'. I think we all need a moment to be happy and enjoy knowing that that horror show won't be around any longer and to feel a little lighter for a bit.
Right? I myself am a leftist but I don’t have a death wish so I voted Biden. Same with a lot of other leftists I know. If only the centrists and establishment Dems hated the deplorables half as much as they hate the progressives.
I laughed so hard when someone on twitter said Bernie would've won with more than 300 electoral votes. If Biden is too far to the left for some people, I can't even think what they'd say about Bernie.
I congratulated one of my US friends and basically all she had to say was 'my highlight of the day is that it's not illegal anymore to say fuck Joe biden' and like, I GET IT, he sucks, but ppl deserve to breathe for a sec over this? No need to rant at me how shit Biden is bc I'm well aware, and this is a massive step towards having a functioning government again? Idk that convo rly bummed me out, let ppl be happy for just one moment
Girl that is completely right. The fight is far from over. But I'm already trashed today and going to be for the rest of the weekend before getting right back to it on Monday because we need the Senate, we need state legislatures, we need to try to undo some of the effects of Republican gerrymandering and voter suppression - but first, Irish coffee for 48 hours straight.
This country’s not even remotely out of the woods, but at least we’re not currently teetering on a cliff. We gotta push those progressive policies and not let up. We also gotta make sure the assholes who voted en masse for Trump don’t come out stronger in four years buy working our asses off to combat disinformation and re-educate. We have sooo much work to do but for now, I’m with you: let’s celebrate that we’ve been able to hold onto democracy for at least another 4 years. 🖤
