I love the Hairspray movie.

Rent is overrated and such a sanitized version of what it is to be an artist, I find it insufferable.

The original Dreamgirls cast is flawless, and I honestly don't see it with Jennifer Hudson. Her voice is amazing but that's about it for me, I don't find her acting anything remarkable. It's like her emotion almost never reaches her eyes, it's odd.

right? like can you imagine coming onto ontd and saying you were rooting for the eviction of a suicidally depressed hiv patient? and yet...

(and that's not even touching the fact that benny's not just asking them to start paying their rent. he's suddenly demanding all of last year's *backed rent* that they hadn't been paying because *he told them they didn't have to*. which is a colossally dick move no matter how you slice it.)

I remember Bill Condon saying everything could be perfect with "Dreamgirls", but if "And I am Telling You" didn't work,the whole movie would suffer. When people say Jennifer Hudson won an Oscar for a song I agree. Anyone can sing a song well, but think all that goes into making that performance memorable and iconic.I got a little taste of the standing ovations I heard about in the theaters with"AIATY" when I saw "Cats"."Memory" got two rounds of applause when I saw it.Jennifer has charisma and with the right directer she can shine. She was awful in the acting parts of "Smash'.They only used her for her voice, but very good in"Empire". I love this one night only show of Dreamgirls. The cast!Audra Mcdonald, Heather Headley,Lillias White
