The Extremely Handsome and Talented Dev Patel's film about the founder of Chippendales is finally moving forward and now has a director attached: I, Tonya's Craig Gillespie.

Dev will play Chippendale's founder Somen "Steve" Banerjee, who purchased a struggling night club in LA and turned it into a major attraction and success across the country after including male stripping routines.

Worried about competition, Banerjee attempted to burn down at least three other rival clubs. He was arrested in 1993 after hiring a hit-man to kill three former employees. He also faced charges for the muder-for-hire of ex-choreographer Nick Denoia in 1987 and was accused of intending to have one of his business partner killed as well. He committed suicide in his jail cell in 1994.

Dev has been with the project since 2017. Ben Stiller was attached to play Denoia but its unknown if that is still the case.
