The rest of us can’t even go travel even if we paid for it since for the poors the pandemic is still going on I guess

true although in his defense, australia and new zealand have extremely minimal cases. i'm not quite sure how australia managed it but they didn't fuck it! it's just the rest of us lol

Australia went curfew and total lock down. For starters.

you make a good point. i'm just surprised that someone like mr "holiday in hawaii during a state of emergency" thought of it!

I'm sure he didn't, he couldn't find his ass with both hands without guidance.

He didn’t. The Premiers of each state led the way and he had no choice but to follow along and pretend it was his idea.

He and his ministers are currently whining that Melbourne isn’t opening up quickly enough

They didn’t learn from last time they did that and Melbourne opened too quickly and then when a case got in, it exploded.

My state is fucked if a case gets in cause no one is socially distancing.

isn't nz allowing minimal travel (or none at all?) from australia bc of their numbers?

new zealand has minimal travel from anywhere but i believe there's talks to set up a quarantine free travel corridor with australia as their numbers are quite low. they only had 22 cases yesterday, and iirc most of those, if not all, are in victoria. life is fairly back to normal for australia (and nz obviously)

Victoria has been on a full lockdown for over month which in my opinion is a little exaggerated

I'm in Melbourne all on my own with all my family and friends in SA and I'm pretty sure I lost my mind about 4 months ago lol

on one hand maybe but on the other hand I'd rather be here than literally almost anywhere else in the world right now

I get restrictions and wearing a mask is the least we can do but a full on lockdown makes no sense to me since nothing has changed since March, the virus hasn't weakened, there is no vaccine yet so we sort of need to live with those restrictions for now but a lockdown can only go on so long and once you open it back up again, there is nothing from stopping it so it is basically a vicious cycle. does that make sense?

Except every other Australian state AND New Zealand proves to contrary. Their second waves have been small and manageable. Which is where Victoria is aiming for, small enough to be manageable and not have a "wave" like we had and overload the hospital system.

He did try to feebly tie it back to how the tourism industry has been hit hard, but it's so tone deaf and he knows it.
