Her and the guy who played Putzie were both in their early 20s and the only two who were somewhat age-appropriate to pass for teenagers. I was surprised to find John Travolta was 24 when the film came out.
When I was a kid, I used to believe that there was a high school for adults because of Grease. I remember watching that episode of Full House when Jesse went back to school and I kept wondering why he didn't just go to "adult high school" like the grown-ups in Grease lol
I watched a lot of old movies (1930s-1960s) when I was a little kid, so I think I just assumed that you had to be either under 8 or over 20 to be an actor. Like the studios were all “hey, education is important so you need to graduate from high school” so you weren’t allowed to become an actor until then and that’s why all the teens were played by grownups.
