I don't really understand Ava tagging Kinsey's employer, and I don't agree with Ava's comments, but I also think as an adult and a professional, Kinsey should've been more mindful. The optics of a powerful black woman trying to get someone who is barely established fire is not ok, but also, if you're going to have your employer in your bio, you need to own what you say.

Nothing she said warranted involving her employer wtf?

kinsey unlike ava didn't delete her tweets so i dont think she's the one who has issue with owning what she says.

I disagree with you 1/2 way. I don't think Ava should be trying to talk to her manager. But I do think if you work for a media company, put that on your bio/your account isn't anonymous, you're kind of defacto speaking on their behalf in a way that makes it fair game for that company to control what you're saying.

No, that's what I am saying. I do not at all think it was appropriate for Ava to contact Vogue, but I also would not put my employer in my bio when I say things about people with "connections" because some people are vindictive.

I totally agree. I worked for a well known company and some of my colleagues got flagged for being too aggressive on twitter. Normally it wouldn't be an issue, but both of them had their jobs included in their bio. One removed the company, the other kind stopped tweeting,

Curious is she required to announce her employers on her social media accounts?

Most journalists and media people have it written on their profile page. I assume it’s a requirement of some sort (and possible clout?)

I’m only surprised she does not have the tagline that most carry “views expressed are my own”.

After I commented, I thought about how media folks (and a lot of academics) have their info in their bios. However, I notice academics don’t name the institution and do include that tagline.

Hmm I guess it’s a choice or requirement depending on the job.

I know almost all journalists/news personal seem like they have to and I thought she was a journalist but she’s a podcaster for vogue so I guess it’s still required?

Because they’re required to. I mean, I work at a policy school, but still they sent out a reminder email to faculty that they need to disclose their affiliations/conflict of interests (like if you sit on company board so and so, that needs to be on your school bio) that they can use the school name as an identifier of their employment only, cannot in any way imply that their views are endorsed by the university, they cannot use their university email for campaign contacts, a bunch of mess because they do NOT want bad press or being caught up in a political shitstorm because of what some faculty decided to say on their own time.

Most companies have guidelines about social media use and what kinds of things would go against the company/be grounds for firing but daring to ask a powerful woman wtf her problem is shouldn’t warrant a company to step in. Ava went full Karen and needs just be called out for that. Nothing Kinsey said was out of line and this low key victim blaming of “watch what you say or the big bad lady might get ya” is frustrating to say the least. This kind of thinking keeps victims silent in a lot more serious situations. I’d actually like to see Vogue come out and support her but I’d be surprised.

LBR Vogue isn't doing shit to support their staff. I agree with you that people should be allowed to say what they feel to powerful celebrities, calling them out on BS etc. But we all know that's not how media companies work. I agree that the world needs to be changed, just not sure how we get there when so many people willing to buy into this circle of celebrity egoism, 'journalism' as promotion, and editorial success based on $$.
