When people say Hook is the worst part of OUAT when rapey Gold is right there, it reminds me of How I Met Your Mother complains about Ted when rapey Barney is right there.

(yes I recognize this article is about newcomers mid-show run but I see people bitching about him all the time)

I'll never understand the way people were crazy for Gold. He was an awful person and character beyond Season 2. The only redeeming thing about him was his actor.

Hook would have worked if a. they kept him as a villain and b. did not turn him into a serious love interest. When they started concentrating on him being with Emma is when things went seriously downhill to the point of no return.
