September 30, 2020 Barry Levinson (Rain Man) is set to direct Francis and the Godfather, a drama about the making of the 1972 Oscar-winning film The Godfather.
Oscar Isaac will play the film's director, Francis Ford Coppola, while Jake Gyllenhaal will play Paramount studio head Robert Evans. The making of the film adaptation of Mario Puzo's book was a complex endeavor, with arguments over moving the setting from Kansas City to filming on location in NYC, casting a past-his-prime Marlon Brando, and angering the mob.
The film is based on a Black List script from Andrew Farotte, which has been reworked by Levinson. No filming dates or further casting have been announced yet.
