Variety has learned that Disney and Marvel are set to greenlight a Nick Fury series at Disney+ starting Samuel L Jackson. Mr. Robot's Kyle Bradstreet has been set as head writer

dunno if anyone agrees with me, but I think that the two times in the entire MCU when Samuel L. Jackson was most able (due to writing, not him) to play Nick Fury as a rounded character were in Winter Soldier and (even w the de-aging CGI) Captain Marvel.

His acting chemistry (not romantic fyi!!! but in a camaraderie? way) with Brie Larson was great, and it's too bad they weren't able to build off on that in their one scene in proximity in the previously-filmed Endgame.

That's my problem with the way Marvel does all their projects. They did Endgame before Captain Marvel has even started (iirc Brie said the first time she was CM was for Endgame). EG writers and directors don't (probably) know how close Carol and Nick are going to be AND that scene in the mid/end credits of CM where Steve/Nat/Rhodey/Bruce are playing with the pager and Carol shows up all WHERE'S FURY? doesn't get paid off in Endgame at all when everyone is brought back

Well he's usually in and out most of the time and playing a specific role (in terms of bringing them together, planning, etc) so he's more of a functional thing with character attributes but when they do let him be involved in a more central way, as in CM, it works well.

And obviously made much better by his chemistry with Brie Larson.

After watching Captain Marvel, all I wanted was a Nick Fury and Carol, buddy show traveling the intergalactic skies cracking jokes.

not having fury and maria come in at the end for the battle was so fucking stupid i will never get over it
