TIFF has awarded its People's Choice Award to Chloe Zhao's Nomadland. This comes a week after the film won the Golden Lion at Venice. The film has made history by being the first to ever win both awards.

11 of the last 12 People's Choice Award winners have gone on to become Oscar-nominated for Best Picture. Nomadland should have a very easy time joining that group. And at this point it's very likely Chloe becomes the first Asian woman nominated for Best Director.

Runer-up films were Regina King's One Night in Miami and Tracey Deer's Beans.
