thinking about the special feature on the chamber of secrets dvd where a clearly pissed off coltrane says they didn’t have much for him to do in the movie when the film literally ends with every main character standing up and clapping for hagrid when he enters the room pic.twitter.com/pzj0g9f1zc

I hate that fucking scene. Like anyone outside of Harry and Co. give a shit he’s back. Most of those kids probably didn’t even know he was gone.

I never liked Hagrid, lol.

I mean, as far as the rest of the school is concerned, their janitor was arrested on suspicion of mass murder. Like at best they're going to go, "Oh well. Good thing he's innocent I guess."

Lol I appreciated him in the first book, but I feel like he was often knighted to be this great force in Harry's life and...he wasn't?? He got Harry into more trouble than he did being some sort of surrogate uncle to him

All he does is go "Alrigh' you three?" and cries over Dumbledore.

I thought his role in the chamber of secrets was good, and sad. He was a grown man still punished for something he didn't do, and it was scary for children to see him be afraid of prison. I also liked the idea of him struggling with discrimination against giants ... The idea. While reading the books I was usually bored when his chapters came up.

The idea is fascinating but since we never hear about Hagrids dreams there is no power behind it. Like he has a house a job, even gets a teaching job he is unqualified for. That he was thrown out of school and that society might discriminate him seemingly had not hindered him since we never heard that he actually wanted expressed dreams of another life he might've had if he had been a full-human hogwarts graduate.

Neither. And while I get that neglected, orphaned little Harry would hang onto anyone that showed him the slightest bit of care and concern, the fact that he and his two friends would regularly go visit the school’s groundskeeper was weird. But then again, this was Harry and he regularly visited with Dumbledore and had private lessons with Lupin and Snape and the rules and conventions and societal norms just don’t apply to him, okay, I get it.

i’m ngl ever since i learned robin williams wanted the role it’s really irked me how ungrateful robbie has been about it. it was wanted by one of the biggest comedic stars in hollywood, an a-lister even and he’s just so 🤷‍♂️ it’s never been enough for him

Robbie Coltrane has made a career out of pretending to be a working-class guy when he was raised wealthy and went to an upper-crust school. His accent is fake and he acts like an entitled elite because he is one.
