I remember the weekly discussions in Ted Casablanca's old E! column about how much of a disaster the first "Charlie's Angels" movie was. That was my introduction to on-set gossip.
The only things that stand out is Bill Murray and Lucy Liu hated each other, which is why he didn't return for the sequel. Also, the script was mostly made up during production; it didn't have an ending for most of the shoot.
marzipanism is correct, it was her that didn't like him. According to what I heard Murray would go off script & improvise stuff. Liu didn't like that, either because she's a "professional" type who knows the lines and hits the marks or she couldn't keep up with it. Depending on what story you believe.
I thought I’d read a story that he was rude to Lucy, and said something like “I get why you’re here” to both Drew and Cameron, but “I don’t get why you’re here” to Lucy, or something to that effect, which if true, is rude AF.
Yeah I remember the story being at the time that she threw a punch at him after that comment lol, though who knows what actually happened. It seems that something must have at the very least though because I remember the denials coming out afterwards just said that there was a minor altercation on set, but that it was an exaggeration to say that it turned physical
