-Halle Berry discuess her film "Bruised" about a MMA fighter which she stars and directs. The film will debut at the "Toronto Film Festival this week, virtually.

-Berry on her expectations after her Oscar win. Berry:"I thought, 'Oh , all these great scripts are going to come my way;these great directors are going to be banging on my door.' It didn't happen. It actually got a lot harder. They call it the Oscar curse.you're expected to turn in award winning performances".

-Berry on her Oscar win. Berry"It's one of my biggest heartbreak's.The morning after, I thought'Wow, I was chosen to open a door'. And then to have no one...I question,'Was that an important moment, or was that an important moment for me?'I wanted to believe it was so much bigger then me,it felt so much bigger than me,mainly because I knew others should have been there before me and they weren't ".

-Berry says there was supposed to be a spin-off for her role as Jinx from "Die another day", but producers balked at the $80 million budget.

-Berry on "Catwoman" Berry:"People said to me. 'You can't do that , you've just won an Oscar,' because I did not do Jinx,, I thought , "This is a great chance for a woman of color to be a superhero. why wouldn't I try this?" (Berry noticed warning signs early on.) Berry:"The story didn't feel quite right.I remember having that argument:'Why can't Catwoman save the world like Batman or Superman ? Why is she just saving women from a face cream that cracks their face off?' but I was just the actor for hire. I wasn't the director. I had very little say over that."

Berry on "Monster's Ball": Berry"It was little movie that had a love scene, that, I guess, was explicit in the minds of some people. And I was getting paid nothing. They thought if your going to do something like that, get a sh**load of money. But that's not why I'm doing it. I didn't feel it was exploitative. It was necessary for the character."

-Berry on Beauty being a double edge sword. Berry:"That is a blessing and a curse.People always wanting to see my physical self first, and then some will argue.' That's what got you in the door.' But even if that got me in the door. I've had to fight that image of being sterotyped, fight to be seen as an artist"
20 years later, Halle Berry is still conflicted about what her Oscar win represents. “I wanted to believe it was so much bigger than me"

In retrospect, she says it was naive to think a statue would change anything https://t.co/1N95L8Ca40 pic.twitter.com/zb7YCF1w0y
