Elton John's ex-wife 'attempted suicide' during their honeymoon
Renate Blauel was married to Elton between 1984 and 1988.
She says she took an overdose of valium tablets after Elton told her "that he wanted her to leave" three days into their honeymoon.
She was rushed to hospital to have her stomach pumped and claims that Sir Elton, did not even visit her during her stay before having her driven straight to the airport with her luggage from the hospital door.
The claims emerged as part of Blauel's £3million damages claim against Elton, over allegations he broke the terms of their divorce deal.
The former couple had agreed not to discuss their marriage in public following their split, however his discussion of their relationship in his book 'Me, Elton John' - as well as scenes in the 'Rocketman' biopic -triggered longstanding mental health problems, she said.
According to court documents, she has subsequently spent thousands of pounds on therapy and treatment.
