I read the first book and it was so misogynistic I never gave the show a chance tbh

I didn't read the book, but it's hard to imagine how it could be worse than the show. 😬

Was there a part where [description of violence against women] the main character got kidnapped, transferred in to a woman's body just so the mob could rape his female body, shove hot pokers up the vagina and then when that female body was 'used up' got transferred in to another woman just so they could do it again and again? Cause that's when I pretty much checked out.

It's not in the show at all. They would never put that in there.

I blocked out most of the show, but I don't remember that happening. But the gleeful objectification of women's bodies was so fucking gross. And hella transparent.

That matches the book then =( So many descriptions of glistening and bouncy boobs. I know that's partially the genre but I expected more.

I also found the concept of a Japanese man stuck in a white man's body really weird. It would've been one thing if it was used for any social commentary at all but it really just read like the author wanted brownie points for having a PoC lead while having a white man as the face of the book. But I could be unfair there since I never got further in the series.

I read the book cause I kept seeing ads for the show lol. I was really excited and super disappointed. Is the show itself any good? Besides the obvious misogyny problems ofc

I found it to be... not captivating. It didn’t draw me in and the rampant displays of misogyny were seriously disturbing to me: they REALLY drive the point home that women are disposable and just human-sex-dolls for men in that universe.
