AMVs have been always been a huge part of the anime fandom, even before YouTube existed. While some expressed their love for the characters and stories of their favourite anime through drawings, fanfiction, and craft-making, others turned to Windows Movie Maker or iMovie when they heard the perfect song that evoked the emotions of what they had just witnessed. Some creators would even debut their videos at conventions for AMV contests. AMVs introduced many of us to music and artists we probably wouldn't have gotten into otherwise, and now those classic songs like, "In The End" are forever etched into our minds alongside the image of Naruto/Goku/Shinji brooding after a loss.
