I also hated when Disney Channel used to do this, you could always tell who was getting their own show next by how they popped up in other Disney Channel shows. I was shocked when Danielle Campbell ain’t get one for that reason.

Haha oh god. The only time I ever felt anything for Sav was I felt bad for him when all his friends had graduated and he was alone his senior year and they like set him up as this “mentor” friend to Eli and Adam but that never really went anywhere lol

degrassi was notorious for side-lining their stunning non-white actors (sav, connor) by making them boring. i have a feeling it's because the white-ass writers had no clue how to write non-white people without making them terrible (note: any black girl on the show) so they just gave up with them.

I was actually thinking about making a ‘most underused characters on Degrassi list’ on here and nearly all the ones I thought of were minorities.

I love Degrassi, but I remember them doing the actress who played Hazel so dirty. She wrote about it on her website a few years ago.

I wish we got more Next Class because I felt like Shay was starting to get a lot of screen time and development by the end. I love ha.

ia tbh. Next Class was a big improvement in terms of diversity with focus on characters like Saad, Esme, Shay, Lola, Rasha, etc and it’s a shame Netflix decided to be a dick and cancel it. Esme especially had so much potential for great development and it would have been interesting to see her navigate her life after what happened in the season four finale.

ehh whenever people bring that up my first thought is, well tbf she was a terrible actress with no charisma. but then i remember that this didn't stop them from giving storylines to riley, emma, peter, or sean...

Yeah, I didn’t think she was a particularly great actress and tbh I didn’t like Hazel’s character much, but given how many episodes she was in vs how many A stories she had, I get why people complained about it.

Peter was one of the WORST characters on the show. He had zero redeeming qualities and I don’t even think he was liked by fans so the amount of screen time he received was baffling. My sister said he also rolled his eyes at her on the subway once because he was in her line of vision and he thought she was looking at him. Since then I haven’t liked the actor either.
