I'm so confused by this. The Latino gang was the Puerto Rican Sharks. They couldn't find any non-white Puerto Rican's? No Afro-Latino's in the roles? As a black woman, I hate Hollywood's idea of diversity because it's not about diversity, inclusion or equity. It's about having a few tokens and then continuing on with the circle jerk about how progressive they are.

lol I was gonna say... you do not need to create a new role, there are plenty of black Puerto Ricans...

Ariana DeBose is Afro-Puerto Rican and she's playing Anita. But yes, overall it's a problem.

And it's worse in his case because Spielberg has Black kids and still he only does these bullshit diversity performances. I'm so tired of this shit

I know it's so ridiculous. I'm like you're filming Westside Story! You don't need to shoehorn in a random black person, Puerto Ricans play an integral part of the story and there are so many Afro Puerto Ricans/Puerto Ricans of African descent. He had the perfect opportunity to make a movie showcasing the rich diversity of Puerto Ricans actors and actresses and instead.......
