Lily (Susan Sarandon) and Paul (Sam Neill) summon their loved ones to their beach house for one final gathering after Lily decides to end her long battle with ALS on her own terms. Things become tense when unresolved issues surface between Lily and her daughters Jennifer (Kate Winslet) and Anna (Mia Wasikowska). Also featuring Rainn Wilson, Lindsay Duncan, Bex Taylor-Klaus, and Anson Boon.

Directed by Notting Hill's Roger Michell, this is a rework of the screenwriter Christian Torpe's 2014 Danish movie Silent Heart.

Sarandon says "it was a pleasure to tell this unique and progressive story with such an amazing and talented cast." Apparently the actors and the crew all got tattoos of the blackbird on the film's script.
