have any of y’all used any of these celeb natural hair lines? pattern ofc, and gabby union just came out with one and taraji has one too

i have found so many black owned brands online recently but the best quality ones are always like $80 for the kit and it’s like if it doesn’t work, i’m out $80 and if it does then i’ll have to pay $20 each time i need to replenish a product and they’re always 8oz like the conditioner alone will be gone after two washes

I’m interested as well too. I’m interested in Pattern but it’s too expensive.

I bought a mister bottle from Pattern, but it's for my isopropyl alcohol. great for a nice fine mist that covers a decent area.

Tracee used to use small curlers to define her curls so I knew her products weren't going to do shit. She is just lucky her hair is resilient.

I should really stop trusting 3cs to deliver for my 4c reality

Yup. The video of her using the curl wands has been deleted but you can gifs here: https://www.buzzfeed.com/essencegant/tracee-ellis-ross-shares-how-to-get-easy-selfie-curls

I think she has also damaged her hair over time, she says in a recent video below of her doing her hair that a part of her hair refuses to curl and I'm sitting there wondering how she doesn't know what heat damage is.

She manages to rock it and make it work for her, but she is in no position to give anyone hair advice/sell products.

honestly, knowing how to do 4c hair is legit a great base to learn how to do all (black) hair types because then it's really about taking away stuff rather than putting in.

Usually when she is wearing it in like a big poufy state. She did a tutorial on her youtube channel, but I can't be bothered to find it. There are gifs from another tutorial she did here:

I really wanted to try Pattern because I love Tracee and her hair, but every review I've seen has been bad :( I do have a Pattern towel that I love lol

pattern was HORRIBLE! Then I tried the stylers, so bad. Also it has a weird heavy perfume smell that is a bit too much at times.

I have fine 3C/4A hair and echoing that Pattern is terrible. I got it in the curl box and I hate it. No slip at all, not moisturizing, just no. For shampoo, I use the Shea Moisture African Black Soap since it doesn't suds so much (I used to use DevaCurl, but then all the drama happen) and for conditioner, the keratin suave.

For styling, I do use Naptural85's Melanin line. I don't think the leave in is that great (I would prefer something wetter and more penetrating), but I do like the oil and the cream (which has more hold than I thought it would).
