every flipped house looks exactly the same, everything is grey and they completely remove all personality from the house. i love older homes and it breaks my heart to see them gutted and totally devoid of their charm.
I also hate how shows like Income Property normalized the idea that anyone can and should buy property to rent out like it's just a side hustle. I've complained about it to friends who consider themselves progressive and i'm shocked by how many of them seem to think that one day they'll be charging someone rent.
It's also a major factor in gentrification, as most house flippers choose cheap homes in affordable neighborhoods and after flipping them, price them higher than neighborhood residents can afford. In turn, they lure in young, white home buyers who are looking snatch up the first crop of beautiful homes before their value is increased due to all the lower-income residents being pushed out.
Right? It's always shoddy work when people "flip" it, too. They just make more work for the buyer even if it's been "updated," since "updated" usually is already dated looking. Barn doors are trash, ESPECIALLY for bathrooms! And stop putting barnwood on the walls as an "accent," why are you wanting your home to resemble a Cracker Barrel on one wall and a poor attempt at replicating a 5-year-old CB2 catalog on the other three?
YES! it feels so wrong for them to destroy these homes to make into generic open plan nightmares. Not to mention, I've seen so many duplexes turned turned into single family homes on these shows. We don't need less, more expensive homes right now!
