Yeah, that's kind of where I'm at now. There's just SUCH a huge universe with Star Wars with endless creative opportunities for imagination that I don't think is there as much with HP? Like things are a little too detailed in HP, the world is a little too "built" for me now.
I think I get what you're saying. I remember in regards to the Expanded Universe before Disney bought it, Lucas said something like: as long as it didn't contradict the movies then it was fine. Like there was a level of canon or something I believe.
there were multiple levels of canon, which is one of my favorite things about that fandom. like the top-tier was the lucas canon, then the secondary tv canon, then lucas-approved book canon, and so on, down to non-canon but still acknowledged infities. they even had an official canon superviser or sth! i guess from the outside perspective it might all look ridiculous, but this approach was great because it was in one way or anotheer respectful to all contributions to the sw universe, which was recognized as a co-developed creation that belongs to the fans as much as it belongs to the authors, because the fans can pick what stories they want to make up their own personal sw experience
disney saying 'nah' to the expanded universe ultimately has no meaning to the older sw fans because that's just not how they interact with this universe
I'm really mad at Disney when it relates to the EU because they are essentially stealing ideas from it (like one of Leia's children following in Vader's footsteps) while ultimately disowning it you know? I ain't here for that.
