I’ve said it here before. If you take out the last 5 minutes it was a perfect episode.

Breaking up Robyn and Barney was realistic (tho not soendjng the entire season on their wedding would have been better)

Tracey was PERFECT. Like KMG she was brilliant for Ted and I loved her as a character. Cristin Milloti did such a good job (How Your Mother Met Me was such a good episode)

They showed how perfect they were together and then she died and that was tragic. I cried.

But the last 5 minutes? To have her be a placeholder for Ted and give him children, then die so he could go back to Robyn? Hot fucking garbage.

The ‘alternate’ ending is awful too.

If they’d taken off the last 5 minutes it would have been such an amazing series finale. And they managed to ruin the entire show in 5 minutes.

Breaking up Barney and Robin was a bit stupid though, if I remember correctly he turned into some kind of travel blogger so her traveling for her job taking him with her was good for him and it was just unrealistic that she would end up in a hotel with no internet etc. as a top journalist who needs to be up to date on everything (I remember vividly that they were fighting about that). They fabricated just something so she was free for Ted and I was so annoyed because despite the last season being unnecessary long and stretching that wedding weekend to a length that it should've never had, in the end I was actually invested in Barney and Robin being happy, so the creators throwing that investment into my face with that breakup still makes me mad.

I still can’t believe people hated Ted (understandably) yet stanned Barney/Robin. He was horrible!

Looking back I liked Barney with Robin because he did appreciate and love Robin for who she was, unlike Ted. I felt like he also was less horrible when with her (like maybe even a smidge of character growth), but it's been years since I watched it so I might not remember everything.

I disagree I thought Barney was also horrible with Robin and instead of loving her for who she was, they just turned Robin into bro-Robin or Barney's female version in later seasons to make them make more sense as a couple ig. She became kind of a caricature of herself, like Barney always was.

I mean as I said that is what I liked about them (especially in comparison to Robin/Ted) way back when I watched the show, but it's been ages so I'm forgetting a lot of details about this mess of a show.
