Lisa Marie Presley has lost a son. John Travolta has lost a wife. People who knew them both tell us they share a special bond, and may seek solace in each other. And we explain why that's bad news for
#Scientology.

July 20, 2020 - John Travolta's wife Kelly Preston died of breast cancer on July 12 at the age of 57. The news was announced by Travolta on Instagram, where he thanked not Scientology but the staff at MD Anderson Cancer Center. Preston was a longtime member and true believer of Scientology.
- The question is brought up with Travolta's many losses if he'd rethink his Scientology affiliation and experts and former members agree Lisa Marie Presley may have influence on Travolta (LMP, who left the cult between 2014 and 2016, was brought into the org as a child with her mother Priscilla by Travolta and they remained close).
- Travolta and Presley would get together to gossip and drink wine, which Preston disapproved of. These sessions continued even after Presley left Scientology, and Lisa would gossip about Scientology leader David Miscavige with Travolta. She also encouraged Travolta to reconsider Scientology and to use her home in Hawaii so he could be alone and “be who you are.”
- Preston was the more strict and committed Scientologist of the couple and shielded Travolta from negativity about the cult. Former members say without Kelly's influence, and with their closeness in tragedy, Lisa Marie may finally be able to coax Travolta out for good.
