There's also the conspiracy theory that hospitals are infecting people on purpose just so their tests come back positive.

I haven't heard that one but have heard they're marking any death as covid related even if they died in car accidents because they get money that way. People are exhausting lol

I have heard that too and honestly I do think that has happened.

That's not even how it works. There is a payment increase available but only for Medicare patients and it is in line with patients treated for similar conditions. Some states allow for "suspected" COVID to go on a patient record and some do not, only accepting confirmed tests.

I have had too many conspiracy believer relatives sharing this kind of thing without ever actually looking into how it works.

LOL hospitals don’t make money from COVID admissions. They make money from surgeries. Why would they inflate COVID stats that caused so many hospitals to stop doing non-emergency surgeries?

I've seen one copy/pasted a bunch about nurses sending in swabs with no actual material and them coming back with positive results. I've seen many iterations of this one. Then ends with the obligatory "THEY'RE LYING TO US!"
