I liked the first half of season 3 more as well, although I’ve notice that most viewers seem to prefer the Red Dragon storyline. Idk I thought it was fine, but it also felt uninspired to me in a way after how much the show had previously twisted canon and done their own thing, and then suddenly there’s almost a straight retelling of what they already did in the movie

I did love the finale though, but otherwise I just felt like I’d seen most of the Red dragon plotline before, they were doing the exact same beats with an episode ending on him eating the painting etc, and it was a struggle to hold my attention at times after I’d already seen all of it in the movies. That was never something that I felt in the earlier seasons. Even everything with Mason was different enough from Hannibal the movie that it still felt like it’s own thing, but the Red Dragon stuff really didn’t most of the time.

That’s why I’m one of the few I guess who isn’t all that excited for Bryan Fuller’s version of SOTL that everyone keeps talking about wanting, personally I’d rather that he just keep doing his own thing with Hannibal and Will, rather than doing another version of a movie that I’ve already seen 🤷‍♀️
