Remember that time Disney tried to create an "America" theme park in Virginia only for the whole thing to be mired in controversy and implode? @DrewTailored offers the definitive inside story of the never-made Disney's America: https://t.co/EyIgRea8bK

Planned for "The Disney Decade" to expand the Disney theme parks at home and abroad, which including building Disneyland Paris. 10,000 acres of land were secretly bought in Virginia for the planned parks 9 "territories"; Native America, Civil War Fort, We the People (about immigrants), Enterprise (about American innovation), Victory Field (about the U.S military), State Fair (about small towns), Family Farm, Presidents Square (about the early days of U.S. democracy) & Crossroads USA (shopping, hotel & the rail hub that would go to the other park areas).

The fact that it was close to the Manassas National Battlefield Park and the land of some rich & powerful people, plus the local highway was not adequate to handle the increased traffic and environmental concerns, helped to scuttle the project.
