i love Phillipa Soo's voice

he sounds like a muppet. it's almost comically bad during hurricane. but i read that this was filmed right after the tonys and two weeks before his departure so he was probably exhausted.

His alternate, Javier Muñoz, who did Sunday matinees and eventually took over the role is a much better singer. I didn't care for Hurricane at all until I heard Javier sing it.

I got tickets for a Sunday, not knowing I'd see Javier (which was probably why I could get a ticket), and I have never regretted it because I think he is a much better performer than LMM.

Javier is a WAY better singer and a more consistent actor. However I prefer Lin's interpretation of Hamilton over Javier's. It's a lot more energetic and confident. His rapping is better too. A combination of both would have been amazing lol

LMM is definitely the weak link in the cast vocally.

And like, his take on the character is good, but it's not DEFINING like (imo) Daveed and Leslie's takes were. (and honestly, to some extent Christopher Jackson. "One Last Time" is massively underrated. Don't @ me.)

Something about Phillipa's voice is so fascinating and idk what it is. It never sounds quite right when other people sing songs in roles she originated and I'm not usually one to dismiss replacement actors. She makes it sound so easy too.

i've never enjoyed lmm's acting/singing in anything i've seen him in. i think he writes decent lyrics but someone really needs to tell him he can't act

I've only heard Kelly Clarkson's version of It's Quiet Uptown so I had thought it was one of the actress's songs so when it was mostly Lin I was.. disappointed to say the least because of his voice

Same. I loved Phillipa Soo so much and was shocked at how bad LMM was. He doesn’t have the range for the role.

Honestly, I saw it in Chicago and Miguel Cervantes was INCREDIBLE in comparison. Like honestly his interpretation was so so good and his voice was miles better. Watching this was ridiculous how much I preferred Miguel.

On the opposite end though, the woman playing Eliza wasn't the best fit. Her acting was good and the first act she was fine, but the second act when shit goes down she just... didn't have the vocal ability to pull it off. Like if I could've had the Phillipa + Miguel it would've been so much better.

Okay I am so glad I'm not the only one that thought this. Does he realize he's not a good singer/talk-rapper/actor? Like I get this is his baby, but he was not good.

The rest of the cast was so great, though.
