I've watched a few old-but-new-to-me movies recently:

The Watermelon Woman: Loved seeing a movie with a strong, underrepresented POV, and loved that the film was set in Philly. It's a little rough around the edges, but hey, it was made in the 90's for $300k! Wild. A former ONTDer brought this movie up in a post a couple of years ago, and her comment prompted me to realize that the director was actually a professor while I was in film school who did something kind that I have not forgotten. <3 Anyway, so glad she's still working and that this film is being seen more widely - it's streaming on Prime and was just on TCM.

Malcolm X: A little long, but Denzel was incredible and I learned some things I didn't know. Loved the costumes, the dancing, and the casting.

Orlando: I recorded this bc it was on TCM after The Watermelon Woman and I knew it was supposed to be the inspiration for this year's Met Gala, and holy shit, I loooooved it. It's like no other movie I've seen before - dreamlike, but structured enough to follow, and stylish ( ... )
