Nope because companies like TurboTax use Americans' perpetual hatred of the IRS (Internal Revenue Service) to control things like that.

Hi, yes-sometimes, depending on your age, income status, and if you may be ESL. VITA is a network that does it, and I know in Minnesota the Department of Revenue website links to free filing

There are free sites, but they aren't government run.

there's a way to do it through California's IRS site, but something got messed up w my info and they don't take phone calls so I gave up on that.

Some of the states have it for state taxes, but for federal taxes the government is like "lol here's a link to TurboTax."
