Sir Elton John's ex-wife Renate Blauel has launched legal action against him. The 67-year-old sound engineer filed a legal application last week for a High Court injunction against the 73-year-old singer.
Elton was married to Renate from 1984 to 1988, the pair divorced after Elton came out as gay. Aside from their marriage, Renate has largely stayed out of the spotlight, and has since remarried and lives in Germany.
The reason for the injunction - which is often pursued in matters relating to privacy, or to stop material being made public - is unclear, but Renate's lawyer has said Renate is "hoping to resolve it amicably."
Assumptions have been made that the filing is regarding her portrayal in Elton's musical biopic Rocketman or his biography, both released last year and both of which may have broken their alleged agreement to preserve her privacy. Elton has spoken highly of Renate over the years, and mentioned in his biography that he had invited her to meet his kids, but she "didn't want to" and he "respects" her decision. He also said of their divorce that she was "too decent and dignified" to take him to the cleaners.
Elton's representatives have declined to comment.

Elton speaks lovingly of his ex-wife but I completely understand why she's upset if he's broken their agreement. Hopefully Elton does right by her.
