They do it because they think we are paying attention and care what they have to say. The type of people influenced by celebrity are not the people who will start any revolution.

and they’re all too damn old to be acting like enough is enough, it’s ridiculously performative

And they're not even speaking truth. They're not even saying what they truly think. You can see they're all reading a fucking script. Debra Messing looks down at something, a paper or her phone, repeatedly. Others' eyes move back and forth like they're reading because the are FUCKING READING A SCRIPT.

I want celebrities to just leave us alone! If anything, the pandemic showed that these people really have no personality, no talent other than pretending to be other people. That's fine for entertainment, but then to expect that we'll look at them like they're some kind of messiah?

Leave us alone!

Hmmmmmmmmm okaayyy

Right now my department is having a town hall about BLM and how it's affecting black employees and it's surprisingly nice and thoughtful. But I say that as a white lady so I'm aware that my perspective on this could be vastly different. They did send me a copy of White Fragility that came in the mail today so I'm excited to read that.

Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

eta: The more this sits with me the more pissed off I get. Like, just stop. It's not about you. Shut up so others can speak. You said plenty when you said nothing before the protests began
