yeah like it's not like this information is hard to find?

https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3530232/fullcredits?ref_=tt_cl_sm#cast

There is approx. one black writer named Kevin Avery. Not everyone has photos but all the photos you see barring Kevin are white as fuck.

Same! =/ I really love last week tonight. Although I guess I should know by now that there are no admirable white men.

I hope that you're right and that Oliver does address this, since the last time I remember him responding to it wasn't super awesome if I recall.

That's really disappointing to hear and I hope he fixes it now. I consider him one of the actual good ones or at the least one of the ones capable of learning and growing, unlike some of the celebrities/late host/reporters given that benefit just because they said or did one good thing. I also appreciate that he covers stories that most don't so even if he's preaching to people who already know this stuff, they can still be better informed, as I have.

Not calling him a treasure but he's decent. It's unfortunate the bar is that pathetically low.

i didn't see it, i just remember the post about it here on ontd. i think it was your comment that made me not even click play because if i recall correctly you were complaining it was all very dumbed down and uninformative? but i mean, at least the intent was good, right?

whereas this one from john oliver has an absurd right-wing frame and basically no redeeming quality whatsoever (with the "lol state oil" quip being particularly gobsmacking).

deleted the previous comment because i posted the wrong video. this is the segment i was criticizing.

i remember when he had a segment about brazil "corruption" where he showed right-wing protesters as if they were just standard anti-corruption protesters and then said made some joke about state-owned oil because "duh, it has to be privatized". great progressive ally!

anyway, a middle-age white dude paid millions by time warners to preach things that are already mainstream within the liberal youth and profit of it isn't a "treasure". great he's doing a better job talking about police brutality than the other "liberal" hosts but that's because the others are trash, not because he is a treasure.
