one of my fave beauty supply stores was just canceled a few days ago bc of this. :(
I’ve only ever ordered from them online so I didn’t know what was going on in the physical stores.

this all popped off on insta when they made a black lives matter post so ppl are definitely right to be suspicious about companies claiming to support the movement.

there were tons of stories from past employees and customers about the racism they witnessed/were subjected to.
employees were told to follow the black customers around and a lot of them mentioned that they wouldn’t let black employees work the register bc they were afraid of them stealing.

apparently they got called out on that a few years ago so they started putting black girls on register but the managers watch them harder then they do the customers.

I was super confused bc they exclusively use black models in all their ads and all their products are aimed at black hair so I just assumed it was a black owned store.
idk how you’re gonna make all your money off a group you hate and distrust so much??

after 2 days of silence they tried to pull some bs “give us time we’re learning” without mentioning what they’re gonna do about these racist managers but a ton of girls were posting black owned beauty supplies in the comments during their hiatus so I’d already made the switch lol.

I was only sticking around to see if they would say anything but it seems like they’re just trying to drown it all out by posting more pro-black content in the blm tag. I’ll see random people who don’t know what’s going on posting about “ty for the solidarity“ and I’m like “ughh”.
