I came this post immediately re: the translation thing bc I'm floored by the way kpop fans just take that and run with it. The Army who spread the "real translation" are intentionally translating it sympathetically with words he didn't use and the original account used v-live's own official translation.
Even koreans under the tweet about it are debating the SENSITIVITY, not what he said. And so far the only people I've seen defending him were blatant Armys.
He could've easily phrased this in a different way but to me he thought he was being edgy/sarcastic by saying it like this. He's really becoming some oppressed artist trope and it's embarrassing.
It infuriates me tbh - you literally cannot trust any translation unless it comes from someone OUTSIDE the fandom, because the fandom translators consistently make shit up, twist words and write fanfic to make oppa look better. If what he said weren't offensive, Koreans wouldn't be offended by it - asusual, ifans think they're sooooo much smarter and more enlightened than those tiny brain kfans. woof.
Oppressed artist trope is a great way to put it - his whole mixtape was him buying into his own hype and becoming that guy who whines about how hard it is to be famous while also trying to flex on everybody. It's cringe as hell and someone needs to wake him tf up cuz some of us have been fans long enough to remember back before he was a cultural sensation and he looked like this;
OT but how can people see old photos of him and think he didnt get fillers and botox to get a V chin? he looks completely different!!! weight loss doesnt craft you new face structure. i think we've discussed his chin in the last few posts about bts lol so this was on my mind
