i have never seen the show or seen the fandom in action (except for that sauce thing??), but isn't part of things being seen as overrated is because of its fans over rating it?

Same. I can probably guess what the fandom is like, but R&M is not the type of show I would ever look up fanfic/fanart for or want to engage in discussion about, so I don't care to ever look up the fandom shenanigans and just enjoy the show.

* science fiction
* black comedy
* gross out humor
* violence
* body horror
* over the top sexuality
* satire
* bad role models

I would recommend the show. If you don't like those things I would not recommend.
