There is one hospital in the Hamptons and it has 125 beds. The concern is that a bunch of asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic people will head to their second homes a spread the virus at a rate that the small hospitals out on the East End can't handle. There was already an outbreak on the North Fork in Southold that was straining community resources. Now that the rich people from NYC came out to LI, they're circulating in the community and infecting people who may not have been exposed otherwise. A lot of people also don't realize just how long it takes to drive from one end of Long Island to the other. If the sick overwhelm the East End, they will have to drive or be transported a real distance to receive care. Also the roads out in the Hamptons are single lane in each direction in areas; traffic gets backed up quite badly. It could be life and death for people.
